WHAT IS THE LANGUAGE ON THE COSTA DEL SOL?
On the Costa del Sol, located on the southern coast of Spain, the official language is Spanish, or Castilian Spanish. This is the most widely spoken language and is used in education, media, administration and general communication.
In addition to Spanish, a regional variant of Andalusian is also spoken, which has influences from Spanish, but also has its own characteristics and dialects in various parts of Andalusia, including the Costa del Sol.
English and other languages are widely used in tourist areas and by expats living in the region. Especially in cities such as Marbella and Malaga, English is widespread and often spoken in tourist facilities, restaurants and shops.
In short, while Spanish is the dominant language on the Costa del Sol, there is also room for other languages, especially in the more international and touristy areas along the coast.
